Yeoil observes personal experience and taste, the body and the everyday, and turns them into confessional work. During undergraduate studies, Yeoil worked mainly in printmaking and charcoal drawing, transforming these observations into a personal vocabulary of forms and image-signs. Through recurring bodily forms and signs, the work reveals personal experience and identity, exploring how images are made and altered through the reproducibility of print and the traces left by drawing.

Looking at oneself for a long time is less a pleasure than a discomfort. It is closer to a practice of not passing over even rough, unrefined feelings, and of staying with them. Even so, this practice has become an attitude toward the work. Rather than quickly defining or explaining an experience, Yeoil looks at it slowly and carries the differences and changes found there into form and image.

This way of reading subtle shifts and translating them into images is tied to the reproducibility of printmaking, and the work attends to the differences and variations that arise as a single image is repeated. To reproduce is not simply to repeat the same thing. It is to create small, new differences while repeating an original. In this process the original does not stay a fixed starting point; its meaning shifts through repetition and transformation. The work seeks to reveal an identity that is not fixed but constantly changing.
